Donor Designated Gifts
Our local United Way is referred to as a "Donor Choice" United Way. That means we allow donors to designate their investment to specific agencies other than United Way.
Of the $913,982 that was raised in the 2011/2012 Campaign, 17% of those gifts—or $155,039.98—were designated by donors to 83 specific agencies.
Sometimes when donors designate to our member agencies, they ask if their designation will affect the amount of Discretionary Dollars that a member agency is eligible to receive during our volunteer-led investment (funding) process. The answer is "NO." Agencies receive designations in addition to any Discretionary Dollars that they may receive. Investment (Funding) Volunteers do not have access to agency designation information until after funding decisions are made.
