The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties (United Way of MPM) will invest a total of $5,000 to assist community agencies in meeting urgent basic needs. Funding is awarded to projects that address basic needs such as food, physical safety, and shelter. In December 2009, $2,500 was invested in three community programs. The United Way of MPM is pleased to announce the release of an additional $2,500 to fund the following community programs:
· Muskingum County Valley Vineyard Church will receive $500 to assist qualified applicants with car repairs and other emergency needs.
· Muskingum Respiratory Care Association will receive $1000 to purchase eight air conditioners for qualified residents with chronic respiratory conditions.
· Morgan County United Ministries will receive $1000 to help purchase a freezer for their food pantry.
The United Way of MPM will also invest a total of $12,160 for Community Impact Funding. Community Impact Funding is awarded to programs that demonstrate measurable outcomes using an outcome logic model. The Muskingum Valley Council of Boy Scouts received $5,000 in December 2009 to develop a Learning for Life Explorer Post Program designed specifically for youth involved in the juvenile court system. The United Way of MPM is pleased to announce that the following programs will also receive Community Impact funding:
· The Muskingum Family Y will receive $3,560 for a Summer Explorer Camp.
· Big Brothers Big Sisters will receive $3,600 for a Sunday Buddies program in Morgan County.
All Grant applications were reviewed by the United Way of MPM Investment Committee, a group of volunteers representing the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
