The Financial Stability Partnership has wrapped up the 2009 tax season with 494 returns completed for $414,434 in refunds! Free tax preparation clinics were held February 8th through April 14th at the Muskingum County Opportunity Center, Brighton Presbyterian Church, St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Rolling Plains United Methodist Church and through AARP at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors.
Volunteer counselors completed training through the Ohio Benefit Bank in January and provided 457 hours of time to assist clients in completing their state and federal tax returns.
This is the fourth year the Financial Stability Partnership has provided this free service to area residents. In four years, 1,400 returns have been completed for a total of $1,021,085 in refunds! This service has saved clients $95,795 in preparation fees.
The free tax clinics were possible thanks to the countless hours provided by community volunteers, the Muskingum County Opportunity Center, AARP, Muskingum County Center for Seniors, The Ohio Benefit Bank, Brighton Presbyterian Church, St. Paul A.M.E. Church and Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. The Financial Stability Partnership is an initiative of United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties.
