Many people are surprised to learn that our local United Way staff spends more time on charitable programs and services than they do on fund raising. Often, when people think of United Way, they think of fund raising. But, our staff is also busy doing work that directly impacts our community—just like the agency partners that we fund. Like the costs associated with administration and fund raising, many program costs are determined by using a quarterly time study to see where employees are spending their time. Most program costs can be attributed to staff salaries and benefits but some costs are related to supplies and direct assistance. Some programs that we operate include Financial Stability Partnership, 2-1-1, and Community Impact.
